Located in Watertown, this small steel stringer bridge crosses 2nd Street, just east of the Rock River Bridge.
Originally built in 1902, the bridge features a single steel stringer span, set onto concrete substructures. The south track was replaced in approximately 2010. Both new and old spans are constructed of four parallel beams.
Steel stringer spans like this are commonly used as underpasses, due to the ease of construction and little required maintenance.
Overall, the bridge appears to be in fair to good condition, with little serious deterioration. However, significant cracks have begun to propagate through the abutments.
The author has ranked this bridge as being locally significant, due to the common design.
